| Races A-E Anzati- The Anzati are a dangerous and mysterious Force-sensitive near-Human species with two tentacle-like proboscises that curled out and extended from their cheeks, with which the Anzati were able to feed upon the brains of their prey. With the tentacles retracted into seams along each side of their nose, Anzati were indistinguishable from any other humanoid species in the galaxy. Aqualish- The Aqualish are tusked bipeds from the planet Ando whose appearance combined aspects of arachnids and aquatic mammals. Aqualish have a reputation for being nasty, crude and aggressive, and generally pursued off-world careers as mercenaries, bounty hunters, and Smugglers. One of the most infamous such Aqualish was the smuggler Ponda Baba. Arcona- Arcona, sometimes singular Arconan, were scaleless reptiles with humanoid bodies. Hailing from the desert planet of Cona in the Teke Ro system, they had poor eyesight, despite their large eyes, and had a small organ between their eyes which, often mistaken for their nose, helped them to see. An Arcona's lifespan was roughly the same as a Human's. The Arcona lived in a family based community, where the males took care of the young, as the females were generally reckless and thrill-seeking. Despite not being a particularly technological species, by the time the Galactic Empire rose to power Arcona could be seen in every corner of the galaxy. They were also notorious for their easy addiction to common salt. Arkanian- These aliens are a near-human people with extreme intelligence. They enslaved the Yaka from nearby planets, turning them into cyborgs. Their home planet, Arkania, is not truly their homeworld at all, but was originally a repository for Sith knowledge. One famous Arkanian was the ancient Jedi Master Arca Jeth. Arkanians have three fingers and a thumb on each hand, and can see well into the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Barabel- The Barabels are a cold-blooded reptilian species from Barab I. Many of their actions were fueled by their hunting instincts, but this also led to the general feeling that Barabels were always angry, or in the very least ornery. They expressed emotion—such as amusement or grief—by "sissing." The Barabels had very tough, dark colored scales. A blaster set on stun would not damage them at all or slow them down, as it would merely bounce off their scales. Barabels were able to shed their tails if necessary, an ability that proved the undoing of many a startled foe. (What are invaders on Barab I called. Prey!) Besalisk- Besalisks are a race of four-armed humanoids from the icy planet of Ojom, though female Besalisks can have up to eight arms. Besalisks evolved from large flightless avians, though they are often mistaken for a reptilian species Bith- Bith are one of the galaxy's most ancient civilizations, with a history going back millions of years. This antiquity garnered respect in certain quarters, such as among the Gree, who gave them more respect than other, "younger" species. Blood Carver- Blood Carvers are thin humanoids, golden in skin colour, with three jointed arms and legs. Their nose is two separate flaps that contain both the sense of smell and of hearing. Bothan- Bothans (pronounced /'bɑθɪn/) are furry mammalian anthropoids, about 1.5 meters tall. Hailing from Bothawui and several colonies, Bothans differ in facial appearance and body structure with canine, feline, and equine features. They were known for being master politicians and spies, craving intrigue and subterfuge. Cerean- Cereans are a species with long cone-like heads that hail from the planet Cerea. One example is Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi. Chagrian- Chagrians are a species of amphibious humanoids native to the water planet of Champala. The average Chagrian stood taller than a Human with blue skin ranging in tone from light blue to indigo. They were distinguished by two fleshy growths protruding from the sides of their heads, which they called lethorns. Clawdite- Clawdites were a humanoid species native to the planet of Zolan. They were one of the few shape-shifting species in the galaxy, and were sometimes referred to as Changelings. Dashade- The Dashade are tall, reptilian humanoids notable for their resistance to the powers of the Force. Though they were rendered nearly extinct during the Great Sith War, remnant populations were seen regularly for millennia, using their natural abilities to their advantage as elite assassins, mercenaries, or similar professions. Devaronian- Devaronians are a horned humanoid species from the world of Devaron in the Expansion Region, a planet of low mountains and deep valleys linked by thousands of rivers. It is believed that they were descended from a race of primates that lived in the mountains of Devaron, and that their horns were a genetic mutation that proved useful in fending off predatory birds. Draethos- Draethos possessed large teeth, which grew outside of their mouths in what appeared to be an overbite. They also had no lips, further exaggerating the appearance of an overbite. Their scaly skin ranged in color from blue to purple to black. Their hands retained an interstitial web between the fingers. Their fingers ended in narrow tips which resembled claws. They possessed low-light vision, springing from their cave-dwelling ancestors. Dressellian- Dressellians are a tall, thin, humanoid species with elongated, hairless skulls, wrinkled skin, and teal-colored blood who valued freedom above anything else. For most of their history, they lived a peaceful and isolated lifestyle on their homeworld, Dressel, until the Galactic Civil War forced them into closer contact with the rest of the galaxy as supporters of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and later, the New Republic Dug- Dugs are an aggressive mammalian species native to the planet Malastare that used their upper limbs as legs and their lower limbs as arms. Duros- The Duros, sometimes known as Durosians, are a humanoid species native to the planet Duro who were among the galaxy's first space faring races. Em'liy- The Em'liy are a species of humanoids native to the planet Shalyvane. Originally a proud society of warriors, their civilization was devastated by the Galactic Empire's forces. This forced them to become a nomadic society, both on their homeworld and in other star systems.

| Races F-J Falleen- The Falleen were the indigenous reptilian sentient species of the planet Falleen. The Falleen were an exotic, cold-blooded reptilian species known to be long lived, with life spans averaging 250 years. Feeorin- The Feeorin were a bipedal species of sapients that spread across the Outer Rim after the demise of their homeworld Odryn, thousands of years before the Invasion of Naboo. Gamorrean- Gamorreans are large smelly creatures of little intelligence that are often hired as guards. The crime boss Jabba the Hutt was fond of hiring them because they were so inexpensive. Gand- Gands are insectoids who evolved in the planet Gand. There are two main sub-species of Gands: those with lungs, which are very rare, and those without. Gands with lungs are adapted to Gand's ammonia-rich atmosphere, but they are poisoned by oxygen and must use a special breathing gear if they want to leave Gand. Geonosian- The Geonosians are an insectoid species native to the planet Geonosis. Geonosians reside in hive colonies in organic-looking spires. All Geonosians have a hard exoskeleton, elongated faces, multi-jointed limbs, and speak in a strange clicking language. Gotal- Gotals were a species of tall, hairy humanoid sentients native to the moon Antar 4. Their most distinctive features were the twin conical horns growing on the top of their heads, which acted as highly responsive electromagnetic sensors. These head cones were sensitive enough to pick up subtle changes in another being's electromagnetic emissions from emotional changes, making Gotals natural empaths. The unique nature of these sensors shaped Gotal culture, and helped individual Gotals carve niches in galactic society ranging from bounty hunters to diplomats. Gungan- The Gungans have humanoid bodies, but their heads are elongated with large, dangling fin-like ears. They live in underwater cities on the planet Naboo. The principal Gungan character in the movies is Jar Jar Binks; the ruler of the Gungans is Boss Nass. The only other Gungan to be given a name in the films is Captain Tarpals, though the novelization also mentions a General Ceel and some games have shown other leaders including Boss Gallo. Human- The predominant species in the galaxy, humans can be found in virtually all walks of life and on most habitable worlds. Humans are bipedal, sentient beings. They speak Basic, which has become the galaxy's most common language. Humans are generally considered adaptable, curious, innovative, resilient, and ambitious. There are many famous humans including Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme Amidala, Leia Organa (Leia Solo, after her marriage) Han Solo, Mace Windu, Palpatine/Darth Sidious, and countless others. Hutt- Hutts are a long-lived gastropod species. They originated on Varl, but now claim Nal Hutta as their homeworld. Of them, Jabba the Hutt and Gardulla the Hutt are most famous since each were mentioned in each Star Wars Trilogy. Iktotchi- Iktotchi were a species that originated on the harsh windy moon of Iktotch, which orbited around the planet Iktotchon in the Expansion Region. Iridonian- The Iridonians are humanoids whose most distinctive feature is the array of small horns on top of their heads. Their home planet is Iridonia, though they have established many colonies on planets throughout the galaxy.[6] It is believed that they are among the galaxy's first space-faring people. They have strong willpower and are a stubborn, proud people. By nature, they tend to be independent and fearless, hence have never been a successful venture in the slave trade. One commonly recognized individual of this race is Darth Sidious' Sith apprentice Darth Maul. Ishi Tib- The Ishi Tib were amphibious beings with large eyes on stalks and beak-like mouths. Their heads were often described as star-shaped, with their eyestalks, beaks, and cheek pouches forming a five-pointed star. Their lungs doubled as internal gills, and they had an acute sense of smell on land or in the water. Their green skins retained humidity, but an Ishi Tib had to bathe in salt water every thirty hours or so, or their skin would crack open, resulting in internal and external bleeding and death. Their language was Tibranese. Ithorian- Ithorians were a species of intelligent mammalian herbivores from the planet Ithor. They were commonly called "Hammerheads" because of their long, curving neck and T-shaped head. They found this nickname offensive. Jawa- Jawas are a pygmy and rodentlike race inhabiting the desert planet Tatooine. They are a hardworking people that work as scavengers and tinkerers. They are entirely covered in brown cloaks and their glowing yellow eyes are the only body parts visible.

| Races K-T Kaleesh- Kaleesh had reddish-brown scaly skin, four-clawed hands, and clawed toes. General Grievous, a cyborg Kaleesh, had a digitigrade stance, but this does not appear to have been representative of the Kaleesh as a whole and may derive from his reconstruction based on a Krath war droid. Each Kaleesh hand featured two opposable thumbs. They also had protruding tusks that jutted from their upper jaw. Behind the mask the Kaleesh had large pointed ears, two stubby tusks on their chin, two tusks pointing upward off their mandible, and nostrils that stretched close to their eyes. They practiced polygamy. Kaminoan- Tall, thin aliens with pale skin from the isolated planet of Kamino, the most distinctive features of Kaminoans are their long necks. Males also show a ridge through the back of their heads. They like to be isolated from the galaxy. Kel Dor- The Kel Dors, sometimes referred to as Kel Dorians, were a species hailing from the technological planet Dorin. They required masks to protect them when in oxygen-rich atmospheres. They were also known for their unique Force-using tradition, the Baran Do Sages. One famous Kel Dor was the Jedi Master Plo Koon, who was a member of a famous Kel Dor Jedi family. Sha Koon, the Jedi Knight, was Plo Koon's niece. Klatooinian- Klatooinians were a humanoid species from the planet Klatooine, located in the Si'Klaata Cluster. For most of their history, they were closely associated with the Hutts, as criminal henchmen, soldiers, and slaves. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, however, some Klatooinians began to break away from their servitude. Mandalorian- The Mandalorians (called Mando'ade in Mando'a, meaning "children of Mandalore") were a warlike, nomadic group of clan-based people consisting of members from multiple species. Often, they served as stormtroopers, mercenaries and bounty hunters. The most notable Mandalorians were Boba, and Jango Fett. Kubaz- The Kubaz or Kubazian were an insectivorous species native to the planet Kubindi in the Outer Rim Territories. Although relatively new to the Galactic community at the time of the institution of the New Order, the species was already ubiquitous throughout the Republic during the Clone Wars. Mon Calamari- The Mon Calamari are an amphibious race from the planet Dac (The planet is called "Mon Calamari" by humans). They are humanoid, about 1.7m tall, and are most commonly seen with salmon-colored skin (though their skin may have other tones as well, including blue, dark blue, green, and purple) and a squid-like, domed head with large eyes. They are shore dwellers, but like to be close to water, and can breathe under water if necessary, being able to descend to depths of 30 or so meters without equipment. Mustafarian- The Mustafarians were the native sentient species of the volcanic planet Mustafar. They were divided into two subspecies: the taller, thinner northern subspecies, and a smaller, stockier, and hardier southern subspecies. Nautolan- The Nautolans, sometimes referred to as the Nautiloids, are an amphibious humanoid species from the planet Glee Anselm. Although they established settlements across their aquatic homeworld, most Nautolan civilization was found in the Sabilon region. The most well known Nautolan was Jedi Master Kit Fisto, a hero of the Clone Wars. Neimoidian- Neimoidians are the most visible villains of the film The Phantom Menace. According to the Expanded Universe, Neimoidians are descendants of Duros colonists that landed on Neimoidia in the year of the Republic inception. At some point in their development, the Neimoidians learned to domesticate giant beetles, and they have been getting others to do physical labor for them ever since as stated in Labyrinth of Evil. By the time of The Phantom Menace, the Neimoidians control the galaxy's largest commercial corporation and are at the head of the powerful Trade Federation. Nikto- The Nikto species featured five distinct mutated sub-species due to a massive radiation from a dying nearby star M'dweshuu, which sped up the rate of mutation so that traits that normally took millions of years to occur instead took only thousands of years. The five sub-species inhabited different geographic areas of Kintan, developing unique adaptations to suit the different environments on the planet. Rodian- Rodians are a race of green, antenna-sporting, bug-eyed humanoids from the planet Rodia. The Rodians are born hunters; they killed most of the wildlife using judo and grew restless with the lack of creatures and began to hunt each other in gladiatorial combat, until the Republic found them. Many continued to hunt as bounty hunters; the most notable specimen was Greedo, the bounty hunter shot by Han Solo in the Mos Eisley cantina. Sullustan- Sullustans are a species of small humanoids from Sullust. As skilled pilots and navigators, Sullustans, also known as Bomewrights, are common sights for spacers and at busy spaceports. The Sullustans played an important role in the Galactic Civil War and were charter members of the New Republic. Togruta- The Togrutas are a humanoid species from the planet Shili. The race exhibited head-tails which were similar to those of Twi'leks, perhaps suggesting a common ancestry. Togrutas are also distinguished by montrals, large hollow horn-like projections from the top of their heads, that gave the species a form of passive echolocation. Toydarian- Toydaria is a swampy world in Hutt Space. Toydarians are short, blue-skinned mammals, with generally fat bodies and trunk-like snouts. Their stomachs are full of helium so that they can fly when flapping their small wings. Trandoshan- Trandoshan are large, reptilian humanoids from the planet Trandosha (or Dosha), they have supersensitive eyes that can see into the infrared range and the ability to regenerate lost limbs. They also shed their skin. Tusken Raider- Normally referred to as Sandpeople, these nomadic desert inhabitants on Tatooine roam the Jundland Wastes, where they are often called Tusken Raiders because of their notable attack against the human settlement at Fort Tusken. Twi'lek- Twi'leks are humanoids easily distinguished by the twin tentaclar appendages that protrude from the back of their heads. These prehensile appendages, known as "head-tails", "lekku" or "tchun-tchin," are advanced organs used for communication and cognitive functions (similar to those of Togrutas) Twi'leks speak Twi'leki, a language that combines verbal components with subtle head-tail movements. When they wish, they can even communicate in complete secrecy using their versatile head-tails.

| Races U-Z Weequay- Weequays are a race of humanoids who came from the Outer Rim planet of Sriluur, near Hutt Space. Their home is Tatooine, leading to the species' tanned skin tone and rough, sandy, wrinkled skin. Their eyes were dark and slightly recessed into their skull. Whiphip- Whiphids were tall, muscled, furred sentient beings from the planet Toola. They were notable for their great tusks. On Toola, Whiphids lived a primitive lifestyle, hunting caraboose and other large animals, such as the motmot, their favored prey. Their language consisted of approximately six thousand words. As Whiphids came into contact with more technically advanced races that came to Toola to buy ice, they began to show great curiosity about the rest of the galaxy. Many Whiphids left Toola, supporting themselves as big game hunters, mercenaries, or bounty hunters. Wookiee- Shaggy giants from the arboreal planet of Kashyyyk, the tall and commanding Wookiee species is an impressive sight to even the most jaded spacer. Despite their fearsome and savage countenance, Wookiees are intelligent, sophisticated, loyal and trusting. Loyalty and bravery are near-sacred tenets in Wookiee society. When peaceful, Wookiees are tender and gentle. Their tempers, however, are short; when angered, Wookiees can fly into a berserker rage and will not stop until the object of their distemper is sufficiently destroyed. Yoda's Species- The Jedi Master Yoda was the best-known member of a species whose true name is not recorded. Known in some sources simply as Yoda's species, this species of small humanoids produced several well-known members of the Jedi Order during the time of the Galactic Republic. | |
